Because Detroit is the quintessential industrial city and the very symbol of American industrial power in the 20th century. It is a metaphor and we believe can be an inspiration to cities shaped by the industrial revolution that now look forward to a new, vibrant creative economy rooted in knowledge, talent and creativity.
To ignite passion in everyone seeking to rethink and redesign our cities for this age of innovation, knowledge and creativity.
Exploring innovation in:
Architects, designers, urban planners, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, artists, students, educators and community leaders sharing their experiences, projects, successes and failures as they re-imagine our cities.
Creative Cities Summit 2.0 is produced by Creative Cities Productions (make link to www.creativecitiesproductions.com) in partnership with the Michigan State Housing Development Authority's (MSHDA) Cool Cities Team. This year's Summit will focus on industrial economies that are shifting towards creative economies and the challenges and opportunities that lie within that growth.
As the first event of its kind the United States, Creative Cities Summit was held in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2004 and was created by Peter Kageyama of Creative Tampa Bay. That event was one of the first of its kind in the Southeast. Today we look forward to the next generation conversation about our cities and our shared future.
